Jammu and Kashmir: Kidnapped soldier found dead, another survives
An Indian Army soldier was found dead with bullet wounds after being kidnapped by terrorists during an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The deceased soldier, identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat, was discovered in the Pathribal forest area on October 9.
The incident unfolded on October 8 when two soldiers from the 161 unit of the Territorial Army were abducted while conducting a joint operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police. While Bhat was tragically killed, the second soldier managed to escape despite sustaining two bullet injuries.
He has since been hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition.
This incident occurred just a day after the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election results, raising concerns about security in the region. In response, a large-scale operation has been launched to track down the terrorists responsible for the kidnapping.

The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps reported that the operation began based on intelligence inputs and continued overnight after one soldier was reported missing.
This incident highlights ongoing security challenges in the area, as previous encounters have also resulted in casualties among security personnel.
