Pakistan records 32nd polio case this year

Pakistan has reported four additional cases of polio, bringing the total to 32 for the year.

The latest cases include three from Sindh and one from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Among the new cases is a six-year-old child from UC Ibrahim Hyderi in Malir, Karachi.

Another case was identified in UC Thul Toshe, Jacobabad, while a 22-month-old child was diagnosed in UC Murga, Dera Ismail Khan.

Genetic testing for these cases is currently in progress. This year, Balochistan has seen the highest number of cases with 16, followed by 10 in Sindh, four in KP, one in Punjab, and one in Islamabad.

A 23-month-old girl was diagnosed with poliovirus a day after her death on August 19 in Kharan district, Balochistan.

One week prior, another 10-month-old girl confirmed to have contracted the polio virus in KP as it brought the total number of cases in the country to 23.
