China reacts to Karachi bombing, issues advisory to citizens
China has called upon the Pakistan government to ensure safety of its citizens in the wake of a bombing in Karachi on Sunday night.
A convoy transporting Chinese employees of the Port Qasim Electric Power Company (Private) Limited was attacked near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Sunday. resulting in the deaths of two Chinese nationals and injuries to one Chinese national and several local individuals, China reported on Monday.
The Chinese embassy stated: “The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan strongly condemn this terrorist attack, express deep condolences to the innocent victims of both countries and sincere sympathies to the injured and families, and are making every effort to handle the aftermath together with the Pakistani side.”
The embassy further emphasized their commitment to working with Pakistan to address the situation, stating that they are “making every effort to handle the aftermath together with the Pakistani side.”
They have initiated an emergency plan, demanding that Pakistan thoroughly investigate the attack, “severely punish the perpetrators, and take all necessary measures to protect the safety of Chinese citizens, institutions and projects in Pakistan”.
The statement concluded with a warning to Chinese citizens and businesses in Pakistan.
“The Chinese Embassy and Consulates General in Pakistan remind Chinese citizens, enterprises and projects in Pakistan to be vigilant, pay close attention to the security situation, strengthen security measures, and make every effort to take safety precautions.”
