Emirates has banned on pagers and handheld radios, commonly known as walkie-talkies, on its flights.

In a travel notice issued on Friday, the UAE’s flagship carrier stated that passengers are not allowed to bring such devices on board flights to, from, or via Dubai, whether in checked luggage or carry-on bags.

The airline warned that any such devices discovered would be confiscated by Dubai Police.

This decision follows recent attacks in Lebanon, where Israel detonated booby-trapped pagers and radios associated with Hezbollah on September 17 and 18, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries.

In response to the blasts, the Lebanese government has also prohibited the transport of pagers and walkie-talkies on flights from Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport. While the exact method of the explosions remains unconfirmed, several reports suggest that the Mossad intelligence agency may have infiltrated Hezbollah’s supply chains to plant explosives in these devices.
