Govinda shoots himself by accident
Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was rushed to the hospital early this morning after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with his licensed revolver.
The incident occurred around 4:45 AM while he was checking the weapon before leaving. Initial reports suggest that the bullet hit his knee, necessitating immediate medical attention at CRITICare Hospital in Mumbai. As of now, Govinda’s family and team have not provided an official update on his condition.
Sources indicate that the actor was scheduled to take an early morning flight to Kolkata. He was admitted to the hospital at 5:15 AM and is reportedly out of danger, according to hospital officials. The police have arrived to investigate the incident and have taken Govinda’s revolver into custody.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, told ANI, “Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata when his licensed revolver slipped from his hand and accidentally discharged, hitting his leg. The doctor has removed the bullet, and he is doing fine now in the hospital.”
Known for his hit comedies like Coolie No. 1, Haseena Maan Jaayegi, Swarg, Saajan Chale Sasural, Raja Babu, Rajaji, and Partner, Govinda’s last film appearance was in the 2019 release Rangeela Raja, directed by Pahlaj Nihalani. Unfortunately, that film was a commercial failure, leading Govinda to take a break from acting.
Although he stepped back from films after 2019, Govinda was once one of Bollywood’s biggest stars, particularly in the 80s and 90s. However, his career has faced challenges over the years, with his last successful film being Partner, released in 2007.
Since then, Govinda has struggled to replicate that success. He appeared in 13 films post-Partner, but all of them, including lower-budget projects like Rangeela Raja, failed to perform well at the box office. According to Box Office India, these films, including Friday, Aa Gaya Hero, Happy Ending, Kill Dil, Deewana Main Deewana, Loot, Naughty @40, Raavan, Do Knot Disturb, Life Partner, Chala Tala Chal, and Money Hai To Honey Hai, were all considered flops.
