Squash ace Muhammad Asim wins first World Tour title

He defeated England's Nick Wall in the final

Muhammad Asim Khan has claimed his first Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour title, defeating top-seeded Nick Wall of England in the final of the Charlottesville Open on Sunday.

The unseeded Khan triumphed in a hard-fought 65-minute match, winning 3-1 after dropping the first game 12-14. He then rallied impressively, taking the next three games 12-10, 11-5, and 11-6 to secure the victory.

The Charlottesville Open, a PSA World Tour Copper event with a $28,750 prize purse, saw Khan earn not only the championship trophy but also 500 valuable ranking points, a significant boost to his world ranking.

Khan’s journey to the title was marked by impressive performances throughout the tournament.

He cruised past Mexico’s Cesar Salazar in the semifinals with a commanding 11-5, 11-5, 11-4 victory. Earlier, he overcame a tough challenge from Egypt’s eighth-seed, Aly Hussein, winning their quarterfinal match in straight games 11-3, 11-5, 11-9.

This win adds to Khan’s recent success, following his triumph at the Jones Creek Open Squash Championship in the USA earlier this month.
