PPP chief jokingly says it will create memes
Bilawal Bhutto slip of tongue - Aaj News

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s slip of the tongue at the Sindh High Court Bar Association event in Karachi on Tuesday led to unexpected laughter in the hall, prompting him to say the idiom in English instead of Urdu.

“They say if you give them an inch, they take a mile…” he said and gestured with his hand, causing the audience to burst into laughter.

“They say if you give them an inch, they take a mile…” he said and gestured with his hand, causing the audience to burst into laughter.

While realising the double meaning of his statement, he quickly added: “No, I mean in English, I am talking about something else. There’s an English proverb: ‘Give them an inch, they take a mile; that’s what I meant.’”

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah accompanied him at the event.

Amused by the reactions, Bilawal continued, chuckling, “Oh, the memes that will be made now!”

The incident did not go unnoticed by political opponents. PTI leader Arslan Baloch commented, “If this gesture had come from PTI leadership or Ali Amin, there would have been an uproar.”

Bilawal’s lighthearted acknowledgement of his gaffe has once again made him a topic of conversation, illustrating the unpredictable nature of political discourse in Pakistan.
