Individuals from the establishment had “disappeared” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, former prime minister Imran Khan has claimed.

“No one knew where he was gone. He [Gandapur] is favouring them [establishment] by not speaking,” Khan told reporters in Adiala Jail on Friday.

Khan likened the political situation to a “Yahya Khan Part Two,” referring to the former military ruler who conducted operations against the country’s largest political party. He asserted that the new ‘Yahya Khan’ was destroying national institutions.

The former prime minister claimed that public trust in the police and subordinate judiciary has eroded, citing a case where a judge took three hours to provide instructions before issuing a verdict against his wife Bushra Bibi.

Furthermore, he welcomed JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statement against extending any tenures, expressing relief that Rehman does not support any extensions. He criticised PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was poised to attack the Supreme Court through extensions after attacking it with sticks.

He alleged that Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa was protecting human rights violations and electoral fraud and that efforts were under way to extend his tenure as a reward for this. Khan warned that if the judiciary remains overpowered, the country would face “destruction.”

He highlighted that Singapore has attracted $140 billion in investment while Pakistan has seen less than a billion dollars. “Investment flows to places where the rule of law prevails,” he stated.

He claimed judges were facing threats and the judicial system was being undermined. “We will only be free from the IMF when overseas Pakistanis invest in our country.”

“We are the only federal party that can unite the country,” Khan said and added that there was “no point” in calling Shehbaz Sharif the prime minister. “Who knows, he might also be disappeared tomorrow.”

Khan expressed frustration over the Supreme Court’s alleged failure to hear the Toshakhana case for the past year and a half, despite three requests for expedited hearings. He argued that if the SC were to take up the Toshakhana case, it would lead to the dismissal of all related cases. In contrast, he alleged that cases brought by the ECP were quickly scheduled for hearing.

He pointed out the discrepancies in judicial proceedings, stating, “When Sikandar Sultan throws a ball, Qazi Faez Isa is standing on one slip while Aamer Farooq is with us on another.” He criticized the “selective nature” of court schedules.

Khan supported Gandapur’s stance, asserting that the KP CM was “correct” in his assertions. He recalled that during Nawaz Sharif’s government, the-then KP CM Pervez Khattak was sent to Afghanistan, highlighting the political landscape’s complexities.
