Justice Munib walks out of meeting of Judicial Commission

The Supreme Court has reached its full complement of judges after two and a half years

Justice Munib Akhtar walked out of a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan on Friday. The meeting was called to review the Judicial Commission of Pakistan Rules 2024 and the rules for the appointment of judges to the higher judiciary.

The meeting will be attended by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, former judge Justice Munir Ahmad, and the Law Minister.

Attorney General Mansoor Usman and the representative of the Pakistan Bar Council, Akhtar Hussain, are also members of the commission.

However, after Justice Munib’s suggestion to postpone the meeting of the Commission was not accepted, he walked out.

It is worth noting that the Judicial Commission meeting was called on September 13 to review the rules for appointing new judges to the High Courts, which was originally scheduled for August 28.
