Monal and LaMontana restaurants sealed by wildlife authorities
Wildlife authorities have taken control of the Monal and LaMontana restaurants located in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, a protected national park area.
The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) confirmed that the district administration has sealed these establishments in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision.
An IWMB spokesperson stated that the area is being reclaimed for wildlife, leading to a resurgence of natural habitats for various species.
The future of the restaurants will be determined in consultation with relevant organizations.
On September 10, the Supreme Court upheld its previous decision to close these restaurants, dismissing review petitions filed by their operators.

The court criticized the attempts to overturn its ruling, emphasizing that the restaurants had previously agreed to cease operations within three months.
The court’s order mandates the immediate closure of the establishments in the national park and directs the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to facilitate their relocation to alternative sites, without granting them any special preference in future leasing arrangements.
