Princess of Wales completes preventative chemotherapy, plans light public engagements
The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has announced that she has completed her course of preventative chemotherapy following a health crisis earlier this year and plans to engage in a light schedule of public appearances in the coming months.
However, she emphasized that her primary focus is on “doing what I can to stay cancer-free” and acknowledges that the past nine months have been a scary and unpredictable time for her family.
Catherine shared that this experience has prompted her and her husband, Prince William, to reflect on and appreciate the simple yet significant aspects of life that many often take for granted specifically, the importance of loving and being loved.
The princess shared a personal message with the nation, accompanied by a beautiful three-minute video featuring her and William in Norfolk with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, which was filmed last month.
In her message, she wrote: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown. The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you.”
Further, she added that the whole cancer journey brings the reality with own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before.
The princess noted that this whole situation has made her husband and her realized to be grateful for important things in life as it is taken for granted.
“Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
“To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light so let that light shine bright,” she said.
The video captured the family enjoying themselves on the beach and in the woods, with William and Catherine lying together on a blanket, hugging their children and sharing kisses.

Although there is no official statement from Buckingham Palace, it has been reported that the King and Queen have welcomed today’s announcement as wonderful news and will continue to offer their love, thoughts, and support to the Princess on her journey to full recovery.
