Linkin Park returns with new singer seven years after Chester Bennington’s death
Famous rock band Linkin Park has made a comeback with a new co-lead singer and album seven years after the passing of lead vocalist Chester Bennington.
The iconic rock band, known for their significant impact on 21st-century music, has announced a new lineup, album, and tour.
Emily Armstrong, the frontwoman of the band Dead Sara, has been brought on as a co-lead vocalist. Colin Brittain, a songwriter and producer recognised for his work with artists like Papa Roach and All Time Low, will join as the band’s new drummer.
Mike Shinoda, the band’s vocalist, expressed excitement about the fresh collaboration. “The more we worked with Emily and Colin, the more we enjoyed their world-class talents and the creative process,” he said, according to the Associated Press.
“We feel really empowered with this new lineup and the vibrant, energized music we’ve created together, blending our signature sound with new elements.”
Billboard reported that Linkin Park, featuring new members Emily Armstrong and Colin Brittain alongside original members Mike Shinoda, Dave Farrell, Brad Delson, and Joe Hahn, is set to release their eighth studio album, From Zero, on November 15 through Warner Records.
This will be the band’s first full-length album since One More Light, which came out in 2017 prior to Chester Bennington’s passing.
Shinoda explained the album’s title, saying, “Before Linkin Park, our first band name was Xero. This title reflects both our humble beginnings and the journey we’re currently on.”
The announcement was also marked by the release of their new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” which is the band’s first new music in seven years and serves as the lead track for the upcoming album.
