Man arrested in Lahore for selling snow leopard skin

A man has been arrested in Lahore for allegedly selling snow leopard skin. The Punjab Wildlife Department conducted a raid at a private society where the skin was discovered.

The spokesperson for the department noted that the value of the rare snow leopard skin can reach approximately $20,000 (Rs5.6 million) in the international market.

It was reported that the group involved was using social media to illegally market skins from endangered wildlife.

Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards wildlife trafficking, warning that such actions further endanger vulnerable species in Pakistan.

Snow leopards are classified as an endangered species, with their population in Pakistan estimated to be between 250 and 420, primarily residing in the mountainous northern regions.
