Scotty McCreery halted his performance at the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado, after witnessing an unsettling incident in the audience. The former American Idol winner paused his singing upon seeing a man allegedly assault a woman during his song “It matters to her.”

Concertgoer Jessica Rosario shared a video capturing the moment McCreery stopped the show.

She explained that the singer was discussing his wife’s favorite song when he noticed the altercation.

McCreery immediately called for security, stating, “Right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir. Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she okay? Get the heck out of here.”
