FBR denies rumours of amnesty scheme for smuggled vehicles
The Federal Board of Revenue has denied the rumours circulating on social media regarding an amnesty scheme for smuggled vehicles also known as non-custom paid (NCP) automobiles.
In a statement on Tuesday, the FBR stated that the rumours about an amnesty scheme being considered for the regularisation of smuggled vehicles were “baseless.”
“There are no proposals under consideration at the FBR regarding the regularisation of smuggled vehicles,” the FBR clarified.
The tax authority urged the people not to believe such news circulating on social media, as it was “unfounded.”
Earlier this year, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence seized a variety of smuggled goods, collectively valued at more than Rs6 billion in a series of information-based raids conducted from July to December 2023.
