Electricity price hiked for Karachi consumers

The price was hiked in lieu of fuel adjustment charges

Electricity prices for consumers in Karachi have been significantly increased, with a price hike of Rs5.75 per unit.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved an increase in electricity prices under the Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) mechanism.

The breakdown of the increase includes Rs2.59 per unit for May’s FCA and Rs3.16 per unit for June’s FCA.

The additional charges will be collected from consumers in their October and November bills. NEPRA has issued a detailed notification regarding the price hike.

The authority clarified that the price increase will apply to all consumers except those on the lifeline and electric vehicle tariffs.
