The Legend of Maula Jatt likely to release in India next month
The blockbuster Pakistani film The Legend of Maula Jatt, starring Fawad Khan likely to release in Indian theaters in September 2024, India Today reported.
The film was earlier planned for a December 2022 release in India but faced opposition from Hindu far-right groups and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), leading to the cancellation of the release.
Following the international success, speculation is that a leading Indian production house, possibly Zee Studios, is planning to release the film in India on September 20, 2024.
The last Pakistani films to get a theatrical release in India were “Bol” in 2011 and “Ramchand Pakistani” in 2008. Fawad Khan was part of the ensemble cast in the 2007 release “Khuda Kay Liye”.
While Pakistani films have faced challenges in getting theatrical releases in India, they have been screened at Indian film festivals.
Directed by Bilal Lashari, “The Legend of Maula Jatt” was released worldwide on October 13, 2022 and was a huge box office success.
