Govt proposes major changes in passport rules to improve public convenience
The Pakistani government has taken a significant step towards improving public convenience by proposing amendments to the country’s passport rules.
The Ministry of Interior has submitted a summary outlining the proposed changes to the Cabinet for approval.
These amendments will allow citizens to apply for and renew their passports from any city in Pakistan, eliminating the need to travel to specific designated locations.
Furthermore, passport fees for all categories will be payable at any branch of National Bank of Pakistan.
The proposed changes also include the introduction of a new passport format, modeled after the national identity card.
Once approved by the Cabinet, the amended passport rules will come into effect.
