The Islamabad High Court has directed the defence ministry to produce its letter on the court record after the federal government informed the court that the ministry denied the allegation that army officers were “interfering in the process of allowing visitors” to meet PTI founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq heard the Khan’s petition for unhindered access to his lawyers. The petition sought to stop the alleged interference by majors and colonels in the process of allowing the former prime minister to meet visitors in the jail.

Advocate Shoaib Shaheen told the court that it was a case against the alleged military interference in the prison.

The IHC chief justice asked if the report from the defence ministry had been received. The deputy attorney general said the ministry has declared the allegation by Khan as “baseless.”

The former PM’s lawyer Shaheen said the copy of the ministry’s letter has not been made part of the court record.

The court said that if there was no such issue, then show the court the response from the defence ministry. “They must have written a letter in response to your letter, right? If there is nothing sensitive, then make that letter a part of the record.” The hearing of the case was adjourned.
