PTI leader Aliya Hamza released from Gujranwala jail after bail in May 9 case
PTI leader Aliya Hamza was released from the Gujranwala Central Jail on Wednesday following her bail in the May 9 case and Lahore High Court orders.
“Long live Imran Khan. Long live Pakistan,” she said after coming out of jail. Supporters of PTI showered flower petals on her as she moved towards the vehicle that arrived at the jail to receive her.
The district and sessions judge of Gujranwala, Javed Iqbal, had granted bail to Aliya in the May 9 vandalism case last month.
On Wednesday, the Lahore High Court heard a plea against her arrest in additional cases. Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the petition filed by Aliya’s husband.
“No agency will arrest Aliya Hamza without permission of the LHC,” Justice Najafi said as he barred authorities from arresting her till August 29. The court also directed the petitioner’s lawyer to submit her bail bonds.
The court also requested a report from the Attorney General of Pakistan Mansoor Awan by the next hearing date, detailing any first information reports filed against Aliya.
