The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to organize open trials for women’s cricket across the country to uncover talent at the grassroots level. This initiative highlights the PCB’s commitment to explore women’s cricketing potential, even in remote areas.

The trials will be held in two phases. From August 5 to 7, the first phase will take place in Gilgit, Hunza, and Sost, a region known for its picturesque landscapes and passionate cricketing community. The second phase will run from August 21 to September 3.

In case of rain on any given trial date, the trials for the respective city will be conducted between September 4 and 5.

Former international cricketers Asad Shafiq and Batool Fatima, who are members of the women’s national selection committee, will be conducting the trials across the country. The trials will have two categories: U-19 and Emerging.

For the U-19 category, players born on or after September 1, 2005, are eligible to participate.

In the second phase of trials, players can register by filling out an online form, which will be available in due course. Players will need to bring their filled-out forms along with the original and a copy of their birth certificates, B-forms, or CNIC (Computerized National Identity Card) to the trials.

Players can also register on-site at the trial locations for convenience.

Shafiq stated that these trials will help the selectors discover and develop the next generation of women’s cricketers.

He said that the aim is to ensure that talent from every corner of the country gets a fair chance to shine, enabling them to represent domestic teams and potentially play for the national side in the future.
