Chinese badminton star receives marriage proposal from fellow player
Chinese badminton player Huang Yaqiong has had an incredible 2024 Paris Olympics. Shortly after winning the gold medal in mixed doubles with her partner Zheng Siwei, Huang received an even more joyous surprise - a marriage proposal from her boyfriend and fellow Chinese badminton player, Liu Yuchen.
The proposal, which took place right after their gold medal win, left Huang shocked but delighted.
“For me, the proposal is very surprising because I have been preparing for the game,” she said through an interpreter. “Today I am an Olympic champion and I got proposed [to], so that’s something I didn’t expect.”
Images captured the emotional moment as Liu got down on one knee and presented Huang with an engagement ring, which she happily accepted. The happy couple celebrated their new milestone amid the excitement of their Olympic triumph.
