Funeral prayers for Ismail Haniyeh offered in Karachi

A protest has been planned for August 2

Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has called for nationwide protests against the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, with a major demonstration planned for Friday, August 2.

Addressing a press conference in Quetta, JUI-F provincial chief Maulana Abdul Wasay, along with other leaders, condemned the ongoing atrocities against Palestinians. He stated that Palestinians have been facing oppression for the past year, with thousands being killed by the US and Israel. He accused the US of leading the aggression against Palestine.

Wasay expressed concern that the world is silent on the Palestinian issue, asking, “Are we hoping to survive after Palestine?” He criticized the lack of international support for Palestine, despite widespread protests against the aggression.

He highlighted JUI-F’s active role in protesting against Israel’s actions and organizing countrywide campaigns against them.

He mentioned that Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the JUI-F leader, had visited Palestine and met with Ismail Haniyeh, representing Pakistan during his visit. He condemned the assassination of Haniyeh, describing him as a political leader who advocated for negotiations.

He called on the world to wake up to the situation, warning that the world could be heading towards another world war if the fire in Palestine isn’t extinguished. He announced that JUI-F will hold nationwide protests on Friday against the ongoing aggression in Palestine.

Meanwhile, a funeral prayer in absentia was held for Ismail Haniyeh on Karachi’s New M.A. Jinnah Road, with a large crowd participating. The attendees chanted slogans against Israel and held Palestinian flags.

The Palestine Foundation organized a protest at Karachi’s Fawara Chowk, with a rally moving from the chowk to Karachi Press Club, led by Palestine Foundation Pakistan leader Dr Sabir Abu Maryam.

Protesters stated that Haniyeh had always sought martyrdom and had sacrificed his life for the Palestinian cause. They emphasized that the martyrdom of Palestinian resistance leaders is not a sign of weakness but a source of strength.
