The government would raise its voice and take action if the sanctity of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was violated, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar said on Tuesday.

“No one has the right to issue a decree of murder against anyone,” he said on the floor of the National Assembly during a private legislative session.

“Belief in the finality of Prophethood (Khatm-e-Nabuwwat) is a part of our faith and no one has the authority to re-write the Constitution,” Tarar said and added that the courts only have the power to interpret the Constitution.

Tarar stressed that the country’s system would run according to the Constitution and law, clarifying that there would be zero tolerance on this matter from the state.

The House discussed the recent development arising after the Supreme Court’s Feb 6 order in the Mubarak Ahmad Sani case.

The Feb 6 decision of the court overturned the conviction of Mubarak Sani, who was accused of an offence under the Punjab Holy Quran (Printing and Recording) (Amendment) Act enforced in 2021. But the FIR alleged that the petitioner had done this in 2019 when it was not an offence. Consequently, the apex court set aside the impugned orders and ordered the immediate release of the petitioner.

On Monday, the police arrested a senior TLP leader from Punjab’s Okara for threatening to kill the CJP, who heard the above-mentioned case.

Sunni Ittehad Council leader Hamid Raza said that the finality of Prophethood was part of the faith of every Muslim.

“The Constitution of Pakistan states that the place of worship of Ahmadis cannot be called a mosque and their book cannot be called the Quran,” he said, “a distorted version of the Quran is being published someplace. An FIR has been registered, and a raid has been conducted.”

Raza added that non-Muslims cannot publish the Holy Quran. Earlier, the court had granted bail to the accused, but the court’s decision “is a matter of rewriting the law.”

The SIC leader said that they would not compromise on the sanctity of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

“Section 295-C of Pakistan Penal Code not only safeguards the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) but also the sanctity of all the Prophets. Allah Almighty Himself has guaranteed the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him). The court is rewriting the law against the desecration of the Quran and Sunnah, and we condemn this. In this regard, the House should fulfil its responsibility, and a committee of the House should be formed. The speaker is expected to give a ruling that will ensure the salvation of your grave and the hereafter,” Raza said.
