Sri Lanka won the Women’s Asia Cup semi-final against Pakistan on Friday by three wickets. They will fac India in the event’s final on Sunday.

Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu led from the front in the chase as she scored an important knock of 63 to secure her side victory.

Pakistan had set a 141-run target in the 20 overs at the Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium. Muneeba Ali was the leading run-scorer with 37 for the team.

It was not an easy chase for the winners as they chased the target in the last over of the game.

“The game was very tight and we stuck to our plans. We lost a couple of wickets early, but we executed our plans well in the end,” Athapaththu said after receiving the award of player of the match.

The skipper added that she changed her batting style because of the fall of wickets early on.

Pakistani Captain Nida Dar was heartbroken to end up on the losing side. She said that they were 10 to 15 runs short with the bat.

“We will learn from this,” she said.
