Rahat Fateh Ali Khan says news of his arrest is ‘fake, baseless’
Singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has clarified that news of his arrest is ‘fake and baseless’ after a Pakistani news outlet reported that he has been detained at Dubai airport.
“News circulating regarding the arrest of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is fake and baseless,” said a post on his Facebook page which has more than eight million followers. “Any media house/channel spreading the fake news will be dealt legally.”
Earlier, local news outlet reported that the singer had travelled to the United Arab Emirates for a scheduled performance but was subsequently apprehended by the authorities upon his arrival at the Dubai airport. It claimed that Rahat had been held at the airport for several hours, with the Dubai police taking him into custody at the Burj Dubai Police Station.
“I am here in Dubai to record my songs and everything is fine. I will only request you to don’t listen to rumours. There is nothing like the enemy is thinking,” Rahat said in a video recorded against the backdrop of skyscrapers in Dubai.
The Zaroori Tha singer did not name the “enemy”. Rahat expressed hope that he would soon return to the country and entertain people with “super hit” songs.
He urged his fans across the world to avoid “cheap news and rumours”.
The Bol Na Halke Halke singer urged his followers to keep supporting the artist. “You are my power. My audience and my fans are my power.”
