Relief from heat as Monsoon rains arrive across country

The rains have provided a much-needed change in the weather

Monsoon rains have arrived in full force across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, bringing much-needed respite from the scorching heat. Heavy downpours have flooded streets, disrupted power supply and caused widespread disruption in various cities.

In Punjab, several districts have been experiencing intermittent rainfall. Khanpur, Farooqabad, Toba Tek Singh, Pakpattan and Burewala have witnessed torrential downpours, turning streets into rivers.

Khanpur experienced strong winds along with the rain, providing much-needed relief from the heat. However, several feeders tripped, plunging many areas into darkness.

Farooqabad and its surrounding areas also enjoyed a pleasant change in weather due to the rainfall. Similarly, intermittent showers have been reported in Vehari.

In Toba Tek Singh, the downpour brought a welcome change in weather, turning major roads into streams.

Pakpattan city and its surrounding areas were severely affected by the heavy rain, disrupting daily life. Several feeders tripped, causing power outages, and roads leading to the shrine of Baba Farid were submerged.

In Burewala, the rain flooded streets and neighborhoods, with water entering homes and shops. The city and surrounding villages were plunged into darkness as several feeders tripped.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Peshawar has been experiencing intermittent showers, bringing relief from the heat and creating a pleasant atmosphere.

The Swat valley, including Mingora, Malam Jabba and Kalam, has also received rainfall.

Monsoon winds have also reached Balochistan, with rainfall continuing in the northeastern parts of the province.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz has stated that Balochistan is likely to experience above-average rainfall this year. He predicted two to three spells of heavy rain during July, with August expected to see the most intense monsoon activity in the province.

Karachi experienced light rain in the early morning, providing relief from the heat. Cool winds blowing across the city have also contributed to a pleasant atmosphere.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, warning of potential urban flooding in cities and landslides in mountainous area
