Sonakshi to retain Hindu faith after marriage to Zaheer Iqbal
Zaheer Iqbal’s father, Iqbal Ratnasi, has clarified that Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha will not be converting to Islam after her marriage to his son. Sonakshi and Zaheer are set to tie the knot on June 23.
According to Ratnasi, the couple will be getting married under the Special Marriage Act, which means the ceremony will not involve any religious rituals from either the Hindu or Muslim faiths.
“It will be a civil marriage,” he told Free Press Journal, dismissing reports of Sonakshi converting to Islam.
Ratnasi emphasised that the union is one of hearts, and religion will not play a role in their relationship. “She is not converting, and that is for sure,” he said, adding that he believes in the “universal concept of humanity, where God is known by different names in various faiths.”
After the registered marriage, Sonakshi and Zaheer will host a wedding reception at Bastian in Mumbai, which will be attended by the actress’ parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. Shatrughan had earlier mentioned that there was some pre-wedding stress, but it has now been resolved.
