Recent scattered rains in various parts of Pakistan have helped lower temperatures and benefited the agricultural sector, allowing for the timely sowing of major crops.

According to agricultural experts, the rainfall has been especially helpful for the early planting of the cotton crop, ensuring that sowing targets can be met this year. The rain has also facilitated the timely cultivation of the paddy (rice) crop, which requires substantial water.

Additionally, the precipitation has been advantageous for the sugarcane crop, which also necessitates a large amount of water.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecasted above-normal rainfall for the current year across much of the country, which is expected to help alleviate water issues.

The weather agency noted that widespread thunderstorms and windstorms brought significant rainfall to upper Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan over the last 24 hours.

The seasonal outlook for July-September indicates normal to above-normal rainfall in most parts of the country, with the greatest deviation expected in upper Punjab and lower Sindh.

Northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan may experience near-normal rainfall, and most of Balochistan is likely to receive slightly above-normal precipitation during the season.
