Balochistan presents surplus budget of Rs955 billion
The Balochistan government presented on Friday a surplus budget of Rs955 billion, with estimated expenditures of Rs930 billion.
While presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, Balochistan Finance Minister Shoaib Nausherwani said that the government has presented a surplus budget instead of a deficit.
In the new fiscal year, the volume of non-development expenditures is Rs564 billion while the development budget is over Rs219 billion rupees. Priority has been given to the sectors of education, health, and law and order.
A 25% increase in government employees’ salaries and a 15% increase in pensions have been proposed.
The finance minister revealed that Rs9.146 billion has been allocated for the education sector. The total education budget of the province is over 12%, and 535 new positions will be created. Additionally, Rs4.8 billion has been set aside to resolve the financial crisis of the province’s eleven universities.
Nawsherwani stated that 242 new positions will be created in the health sector, and Rs67 billion have been allocated for the health sector.
