The Sindh government has proposed up to 30 per cent increase in salaries of the government employees in the provincial budget for Fiscal Year 2024-25.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presented the provincial budget during the assembly session on Friday.

“We did a detailed work. We saw that the minimum salary we want to recommend is Rs37,000. If this is the minimum salary then the government employees should also get this amount. If we were increasing the salary by 25% for Grades 1 to 6 which is the most vulnerable, so the entry-level salary rose to 33,000 after the basic salary of Rs28,000.

So, what we did: we increased the salary of Grade 1 to 6 employees by 30%. On top of it, even after such an increase it does not reach Rs37,000, as for those who have a salary less than Rs37,000, we will give a personal pay differential so that their minimum salary becomes Rs37,000. This will apply to Grade 1 to 6 employees.“

For Grade 7 to 16 employees, the provincial government increased salary by 25% in line with other provinces and the PPP-ruled province increased the salary by 22% for Grade 17 to onwards employees.

Moreover, Sindh CM Murad announced a 15% increase in pensions.

“We are proposing that the minimum wage in this province be set at Rs37,000 and I know this is a proposal,” he said and added that the final decision would be made after discussion with the minimum wage board and the Labour Department.
