A popular Pashto singer was killed by unidentified men for working in the entertainment industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Nowshera on Monday, police said.

“Suspects were threatening Khushbu Gul, 20, to quit acting,” according to the first information registered on the complaint of victim’s brother at the Akbarpura Police Station.

Sheryar has alleged two suspects had shot dead her sister. The victim was a Peshawar resident. But the police stated that the motive behind the murder was still under investigation.

The complaint was registered under sections 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 302 (punishment of qatl-i-amd) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The body was shifted to the Miangul Rashid Memorial Hospital for post-mortem examination.
