Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, hopes her petition to have her surname changed will be approved soon.

Legal experts believe the request is likely to be approved soon, barring any unforeseen complications.

According to a legal expert not involved in the case, name change petitions in California are “liberally granted” as long as the change is not for a misleading or deceptive purpose.

“It’s a simple petition. A judge does have to grant it, and they’re almost always granted,” the expert stated.

Shiloh filed the paperwork on her 18th birthday, requesting to drop her father’s last name and adopt her mother’s maiden name.

This follows a similar move by her older sister, Zahara, who used Jolie’s surname when joining a sorority at Spelman College last year.

Another sibling, Vivienne, also used the Jolie name professionally.

The name change request comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt over their divorce and custody of their minor children.

The divorce was finalized in 2019, disputes over custody and their French winery remain unresolved.

Reports suggest the former couple may be nearing a resolution that could grant Jolie primary custody of the children.

With Shiloh’s decision to adopt her mother’s surname, the 18-year-old joins her siblings in establishing their own identities, separate from their famous parents’ legacy.
