The USA team made a resounding statement in their T20 World Cup debut, delivering a dominant performance against their rivals, Canada, in Dallas.

Vice-captain Aaron Jones and former South African player Andries Gous, who is now a Texas resident, spearheaded the USA’s chase of a challenging 195-run target. The duo forged a blistering 131-run partnership for the third wicket, scoring at a rapid pace of 14.29 runs per over.

Jones was in an explosive mood, smashing the Canadian bowlers for ten sixes during his innings. His thrilling display of power-hitting was accompanied by animated fist-pumps, which prompted the enthusiastic crowd to chant “USA! USA! USA!”

While Gous was dismissed for a well-made 65 off 46 balls, Jones fittingly finished the chase by hitting a pair of sixes off spinner Nikhil Dutta, securing a comfortable seven-wicket victory for the USA with 14 balls to spare.

Batting first after losing the toss, Canada scored 194 runs for the loss of 5 wickets.

Navneet Dhaliwal scored 61 runs off 44 deliveries, while Nicholas Kirton scored 51 off 31 balls.

However, USA chased down the total in 17.4 overs with Gous and Jones heroics.
