Russian expat dies two days after embracing Islam in UAE
A Russian expatriate, Liodmila Shtshebynia, has passed away just two days after embracing Islam.
With no family members present in the UAE, her death was announced on an Instagram account.
The account posted a caption appealing to the people to attend her funeral and act as her sons and brothers since she had no one else.
Shtshebynia’s funeral was held on Monday during the Maghrib (sunset) prayers at the Al Shahaba mosque in Sharjah.
The Instagram account founder, Abdulla Hussain Almarzooqi, stated that he had posted the announcement after receiving it.
Almarzooqi explained that the organisers had informed them that Shtshebynia had no family members present in the UAE, and they asked the public to attend her funeral.
The news of Shtshebynia’s death and funeral spread rapidly on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
Around thousands of people attended the funeral of the Russian expat.
In March, another incident occurred in Dubai, where a 29-year-old resident named Daria Kotsarenko passed away shortly after receiving her certificate of conversion on March 25. Hundreds of people attended Kotsarenko’s funeral, and her sudden death was believed to have been caused by a heart attack.
