Karachi records hottest day of the year so far

Temperature soared to 42.5 degrees

While the Sun continues down to bear down across the country, Karachi recorded its highest temperature of the year so far.

Karachi recorded a scorching high of 42.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department. The average temperature across the city remained at 41.5 degrees Celsius.

Gulshan-e-Johar emerged as the hottest area in Karachi, with the mercury reaching 42.5 degrees Celsius.

Beyond Karachi, Sindh experienced an intense heatwave. Moenjodaro, Larkana, and Jacobabad recorded temperatures soaring to 50 degrees Celsius. Dadu reached 49 degrees, Sukkur 48 degrees, and Sahiwal 46 degrees.

Punjab also experienced high temperatures, with Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, and Lahore recording 45 degrees Celsius.

Rahim Yar Khan and Hyderabad both reached 46 degrees Celsius, with a perceived heat index of 49 degrees. Peshawar recorded 40 degrees, while Islamabad experienced 39 degrees Celsius.
