AJK police reveals peculiar reason behind Farhad’s arrest

The FIR that led to his arrest was in fact filed on May 29

The whereabouts of Kashmiri poet Ahmad Farhad, missing since May 14 from Islamabad, have been revealed. However, it has now been revealed that the case that led to his arrest was in fact filed on Wednesday morning.

Attorney General Mansoor Awan informed the Islamabad High Court that Farhad is named in a First Information Report (FIR) filed in District Bagh, Azad Kashmir, and is currently in police custody.

The FIR, filed by Azad Kashmir police, states that on May 29 at 7:00 AM, a car carrying Farhad was stopped at a police checkpoint. W

hen police officers asked for identification, Farhad, whose real name is revealed as Farhad Ali Shah, allegedly engaged in “misconduct and abusive language” towards the officers.

The FIR further states that Farhad was traveling from Rawalpindi to his village in Kashmir. The case filed against him is for “interference with government affairs” stemming from his alleged misconduct at the checkpoint.

During a hearing on the case seeking Farhad’s recovery, Attorney General Awan informed the court that the missing poet had been located and was named in the FIR. He confirmed that Farhad was currently in police custody.
