Sargodha mob violence victims including father and son are alive, a close relative told to Dawn News, quashing rumours of death.

A nephew of the victim has confirmed that the man is alive and has been moved to a different hospital for treatment.

The Sargodha Regional Police Officer has also stated that there were no casualties or serious injuries in the incident.

The information circulating about the deaths appears to be inaccurate.

However, no credible news outlets has quoted the death of the duo as the name of the father is unknown due to security reasons.

The family and the police have confirmed that there were no deaths, and the posts circulating online had incorrectly identified the person involved.

On May 25, a Christian man was rescued by police from a lynch mob in Sargodha, Pakistan as some residents accused a 74-year-old Christian man and his sons of desecrating the Quran.

Some social media posts since Sunday have claimed that the Christian man and his son were killed in Sargodha incident.

On Sunday, a user on a social media platform, X wrote: “Protesting and crying for Palestine, while killing this innocent Christian brother and his father, over false blasphemy allegations, explains our hypocrisy. Each and every Pakistani, who was involved, must be arrested and an example should be made!”

This post gained over 16,000 views.

LUMS professor Dr Taimur Rahman said on his X said: “N* and his father were murdered over false blasphemy allegations. This is what mullahs can achieve even without state power. If they had state power, they would ensure that there would be no non-Muslims left in Pakistan.”

It accumulated over 44,000 views and was shared by journalist Arshad Yousafzai.
