Karachi temperature can hit 40°C or above this week, says chief meteorologist
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has warned that the temperature is expected to surpass the 40-degree mark in Karachi in the next three.
“The mercury is likely to increase to 40°C or 42°C in Karachi on May 29, May 30, and May 31 as the sea breeze would remain suspended,” he told Aaj News on Monday.
Heatwave conditions are prevailing in Sindh and many parts of Balochistan as the provincial government has urged people to keep themselves hydrated.
Earlier this month, the PMD warned that Punjab and Sindh were likely to swelter next week because of the high pressure in the upper atmosphere.
Summers in Pakistan generally start in April and last until September, but May and June are the hottest the hottest months.
While speaking about other Sindh cities, Sarfaraz said that the mercury hit 52.5°C in Mohenjo Daro and added that the weather would remain the same in the city.
