Unknown assailants killed a man charged with serious crimes in Lahore on Sunday, shortly after his release from prison.

According to police, Waheed Butt was traveling with a friend to Fatehgarh when four armed men opened fire on him.

Butt was wounded and managed to escape into a nearby house. However, the assailants followed him and fatally shot him inside the house before fleeing the scene.

Police investigations revealed that Butt had a criminal record with serious charges registered against him at Harbanspura Police Station.

He had recently been released from prison. The murder is suspected to be the result of an old rivalry.

Police and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene, and the body has been transported to the morgue. The investigation is ongoing.
