Matthew McConaughey remembers victims of Uvalde School shooting on 2nd Anniversary
Two years after the devastating school shooting in Uvalde, Texas that claimed the lives of 19 students and 2 teachers, actor Matthew McConaughey is honoring the victims and their families.
McConaughey, who hails from Uvalde, made the somber trip back to his hometown on Friday to mark the tragic anniversary. He was accompanied by his wife Camila Alves and their three children - Levi, 15, Vida, 14, and Livingston, 11.
In an emotional Instagram post, McConaughey shared a photo of the family standing in a circle, holding hands with members of the Uvalde community. “Two years ago Uvalde met with an unimaginable tragedy. Today, let’s remember the victims and their families, what we all learned, and continue to do what we can to not have more of these memories,” he wrote.
Since the Robb Elementary School shooting in May 2022, the Oscar-winning actor has been an advocate for the Uvalde community, visiting frequently and using his platform to call for change. He was joined on this latest trip by Rep. Tony Gonzales, who represents Texas’ 23rd district which includes Uvalde.
