Pakistan are the only team left to announce their squad for the T20 World Cup, scheduled next month, as the International Cricket Council’s deadline for the announcement looms.

An 18-member squad of green shirts was in England for the four-match series. The Pakistan Cricket Board was expected to announce the squad after the first match on Wednesday in Leeds, however, the rain washed out the match.

“The squad will be reduced to 15 players for next month’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” the PCB said in a statement on May 2.

The ICC has set a deadline of May 25 for countries participating in the T20 World Cup 2024 to announce their squads for the mega tournament. It will take place in the USA and West Indies next month, with the archrivals Pakistan and India facing each other in New York on June 9.

On Thursday, the PCB released fast bowler Hasan Ali from the T20I squad to allow him to continue his commitments in county cricket. He was selected as an injury cover for Haris Rauf.

The Pakistan cricket team arrived in Birmingham on Thursday, the board said.

“Pakistan team will practice from 9:30am tomorrow [Friday] till 12:30pm,” it said in a social media post on X. “The second T20 international between Pakistan and England will be played on Saturday at Edgbaston.”
