Pakistan summoned Kyrgyzstan chargé d’affaires, currently the most senior diplomat at the Kyrgyz Embassy in Islamabad, to the Foreign Office on Saturday and delivered a formal diplomatic protest letter over violent attacks on Pakistan students in Bishkek.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, chargé d’affaires was given a démarche by FO Director General (ECO & CARs) Aizaz Khan.

Khan conveyed Pakistan’s deep concerns about the reports of violence against Pakistani students studying in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Violent clashes erupted between student groups in the capital city of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, with reports of multiple Pakistani students being wounded. Pakistan embassy, however, has refuted reports that three Pakistani students had died.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that the ministry has activated its Crisis Management Unit in response to the situation in Kyrgyzstan.

Baloch stated that the situation has been brought under control, and a Pakistani citizen is currently hospitalized in an injured condition.

She also mentioned that an emergency WhatsApp group has been activated, and a cell has been set up at the ministry.
