Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and PSL franchise owners have reached a conditional agreement to hold the playoffs of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in England, while the franchises have requested PCB for compensation in case of losses incurred due to hosting matches overseas.

A virtual meeting took place between PCB and PSL franchise owners, discussing various matters including finalizing the window for PSL 2025, scheduling matches in Peshawar and Quetta, and other related issues.

A conditional agreement has been reached to hold the playoffs, including the final, of the 10th edition in England. However, PSL franchises have requested PCB for compensation in case they suffer losses due to hosting matches overseas.

During the meeting, discussions were also held regarding signing players directly for each franchise and being part of the drafting process, as well as the addition of two new teams in the future plans. PSL 2025 will feature six teams as the final event, with plans to include two more teams in 2026.

Furthermore, it was agreed between PCB and franchise owners that each franchise will have the option to sign individual players directly.

PCB reorganises selection committee to give members equal powers

PCB believes that keeping PSL and IPL windows in April/May together will benefit players, fans, and allow the league to flourish.

PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, stated that PCB will consider Peshawar and Quetta as potential venues for HBL PSL matches and emphasized the importance of creating a conducive and supportive environment in both cities.

He also expressed the desire to bring back domestic matches to Peshawar and Quetta in the 2024-25 season, aiming to reintegrate them into the Pakistan cricket calendar.

It is evident that the 10th edition of PSL will be the last tournament with six teams, and in the future, two new teams will be added in 2025.
