IHC summons SSP, SHO in poet Farhad Ali Shah abduction guess

IHC asks if cases have been been filed against the poet

Islamabad High Court has taken up the request regarding the recovery of poet Farhad Ali Shah, who was known for criticizing state policies, by summoning the SSP investigation and the concerned SHO.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court heard the plea for the recovery of Farhad Ali Shah. The poet’s lawyer, Imaan Mazari, informed the court that Syed Farhad Ali Shah is a journalist and poet from Kashmir.

Imaan Mazari told the court that Farhad Ali Shah was taken away from his home at night, and the abductors also took away the CCTV footage of the suspect’s house.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani inquired if any case was registered against him, to which lawyer Imaan Mazari clarified that there is no case registered against Farhad Ali Shah. It is concerning that he was taken away for raising his voice about the situation in Kashmir. He filed a request at the police station, but no case could be registered.

The court has requested the SSP investigation and the SHO of Lohi Bher police station to appear before the court at 6 PM today.

The court has directed both police officers to personally appear before the court and explain who took the poet, why he was taken, and where he was taken. They are also required to provide an explanation for why no case has been registered so far.

The recovery plea for the missing poet was filed by his second wife through Advocate Imaan Mazari, who requested an immediate hearing for the plea.

In the plea filed by Farhad Ali Shah’s wife, Syeda Aruj Zainab, Secretary Interior, Secretary Defence, DIG (Deputy Inspector General) FIA (Federal Investigation Agency), IGP (Inspector General of Police), and SHO Lohi Bher police station have been made respondents.

The plea states that Farhad Ali Shah was abducted at 1 am from his residence in Soan Garden.

The abductors broke the CCTV cameras and also took away the DVR. Aruj Zainab stated in the plea that she is an eyewitness to the incident as the first wife of the missing poet. The plea also mentioned that the poet criticized state policies.
