Pakistani education institute SOS Technical Training Institute (SOSTTI), in collaboration with British multinational oil and gas company Shell Pakistan, launched eco-friendly cars on Tuesday.

An event took place at SOSTTI, located on the Infaq Foundation campus in Korangi, and was attended by SOSTTI students.

The car, named ‘Thunderer’, is a slim red color that was completed in April 2024.

The length of the car is 9.6 feet, and the width is 4 feet. It is constructed with a chassis made of aluminum and TIG-welded to form a lattice.

It is equipped with a 100CC engine with a fuel efficiency of 50 kilometers per liter.

It features a chassis, engine, wheel rims, meters, lights, RPM indicators, brakes, glass mold body, and main fiberglass body.

Principal, Comdr Khalid Wasim (retd), emphasized the eco-friendly cars that were introduced by Shell, signifying the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing with SOSTTI in March 2023.

He said that the project cost Rs 13 million, and before this, collaboration was extended to engineering universities for students’s projects.

Shell Pakistan Social Performance Manager, Nida Tanzeel, appreciated the efficiency and hard work of the SOS TTI team on the project.

She expressed appreciation for Shell’s consistency in training and capacity-building young men and women in the technology field.
