Brother-in-law among nine arrested for raping woman

Bahawalnagar victims says husband's brother wanted to settle old feud

Police in Punjab’s Bahawalnagar have arrested nine suspects for raping a married woman. The brother-in-law of the victim is among those arrested and has been declared as the prime suspect.

The woman from the Naya Nursar village in Bahawalnagar reported to the police the her husband’s older brother Ghulam Mustafa wanted to settle and old feud with her and he kidnapped her with the help of a Rescue 1122 employee, Imran, and seven others.

The brother-in-law lured the woman out of her home on the pretext of getting her medical treatment, according to the victim who said after being kidnapped she was taken to a deserted house where she was drugged and gang-raped for two days.

According to the FIR, the accused kept the woman confined in the location for two days and subjected her to rape. The other accused include Idrees, Saif-ul-Malook, Ameen Jowia, Jabran, Asif, and two unidentified individuals.

Upon the report of the woman, the Bhawalnagar Saddar Police Station has registered a case against the accused under charges of abduction and multiple instances of abuse.
