Pakistan reaches final of Azlan Shah Cup

Greenshirts will compete against Japan for the trophy

In a welcome news for hockey fans in the country, Pakistan has reached the final of the Azlan Shah Cup after thirteen years.

Alongside greenshirts, Japan has also qualified for the final as well.

In the fourth round of the ongoing tournament held in Ipoh, Japan defeated host Malaysia with a score of 2-1, securing their spot in the final.

With the completion of the fourth round, Pakistan and Japan are currently tied for first and second place with ten points each. Pakistan handed a 5-4 defeat Canada in their previous match.

The greenshirts have remained unbeaten in the tournament so far. They secured victories against Malaysia and Korea, while their match against Japan ended in a draw.

The last time Pakistan played the final of the Azlan Shah Cup was in 2011 against Australia, where they suffered a 3-2 defeat.

The team’s impressive performance in the tournament has rekindled hopes of bringing the prestigious trophy back home.
