Punjab female police officer to receive IAWP’s ‘Excellence in Performance Award’
The International Association of Women Police (IAWP) has selected Punjab police officer Riffat Bukhari for its ‘Excellence in Performance Award’ to honour her “distinguished service and commitment” to police.
“On behalf of our members, the Board of Directors and the Recognition Committee, congratulations on receiving the highly competitive global recognition,” said a letter from IAWP President Deborah Friedl to Bukhari on Wednesday.
This award is given annually to a female police officer from around the world who has demonstrated exceptional service to her community.
Last year, the organisation awarded SSP Sonia Shamroz Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the ‘Officer of the Year’ award.
The IAWP – a global organisation for women police officers and women in other criminal justice roles –represents more than 70 countries and 30 affiliate organizations.
“Our association provides critical opportunities for training, mentoring, collaboration and networking,” said its website.
SSP Bukhari is serving in the Punjab Safe Cities Authority.
