Nawaz Sharif urged to again take up PML-N’s reins, says Sanaullah
PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif has been urged to take over the party’s presidency, which he had to lose after the Supreme Court ruling in 2018, said former minister Rana Sanaullah on Friday.
“We have hope and believe that his [Nawaz Sharif] passionate leadership will become more popular among the masses,” Sanaullah said at a press conference in Lahore.
According to Sanaullah, all office bearers in the party have given wise and comprehensive suggestions that would be presented before the leadership. Suggestions would be presented to Nawaz after he would return to Pakistan from his China trip.
He added that the party supported the efforts of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to bring economic stability to the country and province.
Sanaullah further said that the party was standing behind the federal and provincial governments.
Amid reports of rifts within the party, he said that everyone has the right to express their opinion and the leaders respect views of point of view.
“There may be many things on which I agree with my brothers and disagreement at some point,” he said. Sanaullah was flanked by party leaders Javed Latif and Khurram Dastgir.
In the recent past, there were reports of issues within the PML-N as some of the leaders were concerned over the election results and the formation of government.
“Hopefully, we overcome our shortcomings,” the PML-N leader said.
When asked, he said that a “quaid” position was created for Nawaz after he was “forcefully” removed from the party in 2017. He added that only Nawaz’s narrative would be followed whether it was about reconciliation or resistance.
He was also asked about the alleged attempts to defeat the group of Nawaz in the general elections on February 8. “This is an opinion, which will be discussed within the party and we have discussed it today. We have a different view on this,” Sanaullah said.

It would be discussed within the party and after an appropriate decision the PML-N would present the narrative within a few weeks, he added.
In response to a question, he said that the designation of “quaid” was created in the party’s constitution for respect and the operational post was with the president.
“In the past, Shehbaz Sharif may not have taken any decision without his approval. We want to redress the humiliation of 2017.
He clarified that they were part of the government despite not getting any posts. “There is no group,” he said and added that all the leaders have the same loyalty as PML-N President Shehbaz has with the party.
